<p>PURPOSE:To obtain highly efficient coding without deviation in an edge position by coding picture data through block configuration suitable for a characteristic of band data after sub band split and applying block coding to an intermediate frequency component for each rectangular block of one longitudinal picture element or for each rectangular block of one lateral picture element. CONSTITUTION:The coder is provided with coders 12-15 coding picture data subject to band split by a 2-dimension band split filter 11 through block configuration suitable for the characteristic of each of band data. In this case, LL band data whose horizontal and vertical synchronizing signals are low frequency components are coded for each square block whose lateral and longitudinal elements are both 8, LH band data are coded for each rectangular block lone in the lateral direction whose lateral and longitudinal elements are 8X1, HL band data are coded for each rectangular block long in the longitudinal direction whose lateral and longitudinal elements are 1m8 and HH band data are subject to PCM coding. Highly efficient coding is attained through the coding as above. Since the block coding is finished in each block, a problem of a deviated edge position is not caused.</p> |
