PURPOSE:To produce a carbon/carbon composite material having a high density in a short time and at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:This composite material constituting of a pitch-based carbon fiber or PAN-based carbon fiber and a carbonaceous matrix using a resin or pitch as a starting material, at the time of carbonizing and graphiting the resin or pitch by heating under a pressure, is subjected to the impregnation and carbonization treating of the resin or pitch is executed by a device having a structure separating an impregnation and carbonization treating chamber from a heating part in a hydrostatic press device, and is produced by charging a porous body of the carbon/carbon composite material and the resin or pitch to be allowed to impregnate into an open type vessel which does not permeate gas and executing processes of dissolving, pressurizing, thermal decomposing, carbonizing with the treatment for preventing the flotation, if the density of the porous body is lower than that of the resin or pitch, or as it is, if the density of the porous body is larger than that of the resin or pitch. |
