A filter component (21) has a substantially rigid support core (23) and a filter element (19). The core (23) includes a projecting first anchoring rib (25) and the filter element (19) (which is substantially flat in a repose position) has first and second spaced end panels (53, 55). At least the first end panel (53) of the element (19) is attached to the anchoring rib (25) when the element (19) is mounted on the component (21). Element-component attachment is, in one aspect, by panel-mounted hook-like devices (57a) which attach to the rib (25). Attachment devices (57) may also be embodied as clip mechanisms (57b) or rivet-like fasteners (57c). A retaining tab (37) on the component platform (35) fits into a tab notch (65) on the filter elment (19) when the element (19) is mounted on the component (21). |
