Pistonless internal combustion engine functioning on the injection or diesel principle

In addition to simple construction, the engine affords a large weight saving, quiet running and permits substantially higher speeds. The pistonless internal combustion engine comprises a pressure vessel and a plurality of combustion chambers, which are arranged in a ring around the drive shaft, connected to the pressure vessel by non-return valves and closed off on the front side by a ring with outlet openings, and a rotor. A control disc, which is provided with segmental openings and is externally driven is arranged between the combustion chambers and the rotor. Each combustion chamber is filled by way of the non-return valve with compressed air, the pressure of which is equal to the compression pressure. When the outlet opening is closed fuel is injected and ignited. Due to the rotation of the control disc the outlet opening is exposed and the highly compressed gas passes into one of the recesses of the rotor. There it is deflected and expanded. In the process a tangentially acting force is generated, which produces rotation of the rotor and the drive shaft. Due to the rotation, the outward flowing gas generates a centrifugal force, which acts on the rotor. The tangential component of this force generates an additional torque.
