In the case of a fifthwheel coupling (10) with a coupling plate (12) and a latch (24, 28), which is in operative connection with a hand-lever bar (36) and is intended for a lock piece (16) of a coupling fastener (14), the end position of the latch (24, 28) can be changed in order to adjust play in the coupling fastener (14). For this purpose, on the hand-lever bar (36) there is fastened releasably a stop element (94) which is to be positioned in accordance with the end position of the latch (24, 28), which end position is to be changed. The stop element (94) has a stop plate (92) which, when the coupling fastener (14) is closed, bears with a stop edge (93) against a mating surface (81) in the coupling plate (12). In order to adjust the play in the coupling fastener the easily accessible stop element on the hand-lever bar is offset outwards. The stop element, which is visible from the outside, serves at the same time as a means of verifying that the coupling fastener is closed correctly. The play between the stop and coupling plate is always the same and the hand-lever bar has no weak point. <IMAGE>
