PURPOSE:To provide several bar code read means for one register processing means by temporarily recording commodity data read by bar code read means in a data recording medium and setting this recording medium to the register processing means to perform the register processing. CONSTITUTION:A customer receives a shopping basket 14 and a magnetic card 41 when entering a store 2 from an entrance 3 and takes out commodities to be purchased from display racks 5 to throw them into the shopping basket 41 while carrying the magnetic card 41 about him. The customer reads and scans commodity data, which are formed on commodities by bar codes, by a bar code scanner 16 of a data input/output device 6 and records these data in the magnetic card 41 by a card writer. A clerk reads out commodity data recorded on this magnetic card 41 by a card reader of an electronic cash register, and the register processing is performed by a register processing means. Since read and scanning of commodity data requiring much time are performed by the customer, the overall processing time is shortened to contribute to improvement of the work efficiency. |
