<p>PURPOSE: To enable a flexible material sheet to give sealing and to maintain sealing against external pressure, by using a sheet when a mechanical constraint is given by essentially still casing and/or support. CONSTITUTION: A material sheet 28 is covered with a gel 29 whose viscosity is temporarily reduced at least around its periphery. A backed sheet 28 is wound around a splice, seals the splice, and is released, thus exposing the splice. A net 30 that is made of flexible plastic material is applied to the surface of the gel 29 as one method for reducing viscosity temporarily. Only the surface of the net 30 is touched on handling before use but the surface is not viscous. However, when a pressure is applied to an article such as the backed sheet 28 or the net 30, the gel is pressed and passes through a void, thus forming a desired sealing. By eliminating pressure, the gel returns to its previous state and the article can be used again.</p> |
