In order to create a lamp socket which can be mounted in an installation opening in a motor vehicle panel and has an earth contact and a base contact with connecting parts, which project axially outwards, for electrical connecting means, and whose installation (assembly) is simplified, can be installed automatically in a simple manner and can also be fitted with ready-made connecting contacts in a simple manner, it is proposed that the earth contact (4) and the base contact (5) each consist of a cruciform sheet-metal strip whose first end part (9, 10) forms the lamp socket contact part, whose second end part (11, 12) forms the connecting part for the connecting means (8), and whose transverse web (13, 14) has latching means (15, 16) which have a latching edge (17, 18) directed towards the second end part (11, 12), and that the base (19) of the socket has engagement slots (20, 21) for the first end parts (9, 10), each of which merges in the slot transverse direction on both sides into slot regions (22, 23) which are used for accommodating the transverse webs (12, 13) of the contacts (4, 5). <IMAGE>
