PURPOSE:To prevent a smear phenomenon from occurring due to the influence from a high brightness part and to adequately measure the intensity of light from a main subject by a method wherein the electric charge stored in a photoelectric transfer element is transferred from the top to the bottom of the field of view. CONSTITUTION:Electric charges stored in photoelectric transfer elements Rij, Gij, Bij in a light measuring section 10 are transferred to horizontal-transfer registers H1-H13 in accordance with the generation of charge-end signals from respective charge control section 16, 17. When all of the electric charges stored in the elements Rij, Gij, Bij are transferred to the registers H1-H13, the charges of every element are transferred to a vertical-transfer register V1 in synchronism with a clock. The register V1 further transfers the charges to an A/D convertor section in synchronism with an inner clock. At that time, the transferring direction by the register V1 is from the top to the bottom portions in the field of view. Thereby, the charges of pixels in the bottom portion of comparatively dark part are transferred without being passed through the bright top portion so that the occurrence of a smear phenomenon in which the charges in a high brightness portion flows into a low brightness portion, can be prevented. |
