Structure for protecting plants, particularly trees, when building sites are in operation, which structure can be used by businesses, particularly in the civil-engineering (public-works) industry. According to the invention, it is characterised in that it comprises: - a first series of elements (7) intended to be arranged at the base of the trunk (stem) of the tree, close to the roots (9), each first element being connected to an adjacent element by attachment means, all the first elements being placed at a sufficient distance from the trunk, - a second series of elements (8) arranged above the first series and around the trunk (4), each second element being connected to the first element by fastening means, so as to constitute a supporting structure (6) bearing on the ground (2) and encircling the tree over a height of several metres without contact with the trunk or with the roots. Applications to civil-engineering businesses operating on building sites in built-up areas or in wooded zones, for protecting or preserving a tree temporarily while a building site is in operation. <IMAGE>
