A door lock apparatus with an automatic door closing mechanism comprises a latch (13) Fig. 4 (not shown) in housing 8 engaging with a striker (10) Fig. 4 secured to a vehicle body, an automatic door closing motor (40) for rotating the latch (13) from a half-latched position to a point beyond its full-latched position while the motor rotates in a given direction, a switch adapted to turn continuously ON when the latch is between the half-latched and full-latched positions and to turn OFF when the latch (13) is at any other position than between the half-latched and full-latched positions, and a controller (120) for rotating the motor (40) in said given direction when a door closing operation turns the switch (26) from its OFF condition to the ON condition and for reversely rotating motor when the switch (26) turns from ON to OFF.
