PURPOSE:To inexpensively improve oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance without damaging spalling resistance by blending a mixture of given amounts of a neutral refractory raw material and a graphite with metal powder. CONSTITUTION:55-96wt.% of a neutral refractory raw material such as fused alumina having >=90wt.% purity is mixed with 3-30wt.% of a graphite such as coke having >=90wt.% purity and 1-15wt.% of SiC to give a mixture. Then 100 pts.wt. of the mixture is blended with 1-15wt.% of glass powder such as borosilicate glass having >=200mum particle size, 1-5wt.% metal Ti powder and the rest of Al and/or Si or 2-15wt.% of metal powder composed of Al-Mg to give a mixture. Then the blend is kneaded, molded, dried and hardened to produce neutral carbon-containing refractory. |
