The invention relates to a transport system for articles of clothing hanging on clothes-hangers, which has a worm-conveyor and/or chain-conveyor apparatus (1), a clothes-hanger separator (2) and/or a clothes-hanger separating disc (3) and an apparatus for the automatic recognition and elimination of clothes-hanger hooks (4A) hanging next to one another which hang crosswise and/or which fall below a predeterminable minimum distance (MA) between one another. This apparatus consists of a camera (5) with an electronic signal output, which is aligned with its optical axis (OA) with the hanging clothes-hanger hooks (4A). A light source (6) is located opposite the camera (5) on the other side of the conveyor apparatus (1). Arranged downstream of the camera (5) in the direction of transport on the conveyor apparatus (1) is a switch (9), by means of which clothes-hangers can be diverted onto a fault-ejection rail (10).
