METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PRODUCING NON-CERAMIC INSULATOR

PURPOSE:To uniformly and certainly grind the surface of a rod made of FRP being the core material of a non-ceramic insulator by applying sandblast processing to the surface of the rod before covering the outer peripheral part of the rod with an insulating jacket. CONSTITUTION:A non-ceramic insulator consists of a rod W made of a fiber reinforced synthetic resin and the insulating jacket composed of a vulcanized elastic insulating material bonded to the outer peripheral part of the rod W. In the production of the non-ceramic insulator, the feed device 10 of the rod W constituted so that a plurality of hand drum-shaped rollers 15 rotated at the same speed in the same direction are arranged so that the centers thereof are positioned on a straight line and the shafts 12a thereof are arranged so as to form a definite angle theta with respect to the feed direction of the rod W and a sandblast processing device main body 11 applying sandblast processing to the surface of the rod W before covering the outer peripheral part of the rod W fed by the feed device 10 with the insulating jacket are provided.
