PURPOSE:To improve the strength and sealability at a good operating efficiency by filling a hydrous get into a space between prescribed substrates and then fitting a highly water absorbing polymer-containing rubber-like sealing medium into a hole. CONSTITUTION:Glass substrates 4 and 4' such as soda glass are opposed and arranged through a spacer 1 in which a corner joint 2 is inserted. A hole is then bored in the spacer 1 or the corner joint 2 or both and a highly water absorbing polymer-containing sealing medium 3 composed of a synthetic rubber, acrylic acid, etc., is then inserted into the hole. The peripheral part is subsequently sealed and cured with a silicone-based sealing material 5. The sealing medium 3 is then taken out and a solution 7 composed of an acrylic monomer, silica, etc., is then filled from the part, irradiated with ultraviolet rays, polymerized and cured to form a hydrous gel. The hole is then closed with the sealing medium 3 to produce the objective fireproof glass. |
