PURPOSE: To configure the event drive interface and to analyze its output by sending a control vector to a programmable performance vector generating means coupled with a network from a control vector generating means. CONSTITUTION: The programmable performance vector generating means includes the event drive interfaces. A control vector generating means 104 is coupled with the event drive interfaces EDI120-120D to generate a control vector that describes a characteristic pattern. The control vector generating means 104 provides an output of a control vector to the event drive interfaces EDI120-120D, and the event drive interfaces EDI120-120D filter the characteristic pattern digitally and a counter coupled with the the event drive interfaces EDI120-120D is incremented to generate an event vector through the configuration of the event drive interfaces EDI120-120D. Then the event vector outputted to experts systems 106, 108, 110 and 112 is analyzed and monitor information and a control signal to the network are supplied.
