- The subject of the invention is a device for positioning a tool support consisting of a structure including at least two sections (S1, S2) each one comprising at least one rail (3) which can partially surround the fuselage (1, 2) and which carries one or more tool-holder saddles (4) which can move along the rail or rails (3), characterised in that it comprises two frameworks (T1, T2) which can move allowing them to be brought closer to or moved further away from the fuselage (1, 2) on either side of the latter, each framework being assigned to one of the sections (S1, S2), means for connecting each section (S1, S2) to its framework (T1, T2) rigidly when the sections are not in a position for docking against the fuselage (1, 2) and elastically, and damping out vibration, when the sections are in the said docking position and means for securing the ends facing the rails (3) of the said support structure. - Application especially to the assembly of lengths of aircraft fuselages, end to end. <IMAGE> |
