The lifting jack for lifting and supporting heavy loads has a jack frame (4) which is carried by a chassis (1) with four running wheels (2, 3) and can be lowered relative to the chassis (1) into a standing position and lifted into a travelling position. Cantilevers - claws - (6) accepting the load are mounted so as to be vertically movable with a slide (5) in the jack frame (4) and so as to be extendable in the slide (5) transversely to the vertical movement for accepting the load. This chassis (1) is designed as a spring-power chassis and carries the jack frame (4) in a liftable and lowerable manner relative to the travel plane (9) with springs (7, 8) inbetween. The running wheels (2, 3) of the chassis (1) arranged on the load-acceptance side are set back relative to the load-acceptance end (6a) of the extended cantilevers (6), and the chassis (1), during loading of the jack frame (4) and when the jack frame is lowered, maintains ground contact with the travel plane (9) with all running wheels (2, 3), and the entire lifting jack is always vertical. <IMAGE>
