GAS AND LIQUID CONTACT DEVICE

PURPOSE:To increase the contact efficiency of gas significantly by a gas and liquid contact surface using a material consisting of a reticular form attached to the surface of a plate. CONSTITUTION:The gas and liquid contact device is composed of a horizontal cross section packed with any selected type of packing 2. The packing 2 has an inner wall formed vertically for allowing a liquid to come in contact with a gas. Gas and liquid contact surfaces are arranged in the gas and liquid contact device in such a manner that the surfaces are oriented in parallel with the flow of a gas. The liquid supplied from the top of the packing 2 is allowed to flow down along the gas and liquid contact surfaces, and the gas is supplied from the bottom to allow the gas to come in contact with the liquid. The gas and liquid contact surface formed on the inner wall of the packing 2 consists of a material which is composed of a reticular form attached to the surface of a plate 32. Thus the liquid flowing down on the air and liquid contact surface spreads over the contact surface extensively instead of running in the form of thread. Consequently, the flow-down retention time of the liquid is long, so that resultantly, the gas and liquid contact efficiency is significantly increased.
