A packaging box made of card or corrugated cardboard, for holding items of crockery or the like in an impact-protected manner, having a bottom part having peripheral side walls and a lid which is linked to the top edge of one side wall, having a shock-damping card insert which is preferably moulded onto the side wall opposite the lid hinge, is provided with deflection slots and is supported via supporting edges on the base of the bottom part, the card insert which is longer than the corresponding inside dimension of the bottom part being provided with a central crease edge standing on the base of the bottom part and lateral tabs which are each divided in extension of the crease edge and allow the tab sections to overlap when the card insert is folded in, the tab sections each being provided with pivoting edges which run at an inclination to their attachment edge on the card insert and run parallel to the top edges of the side wall in the overlapping insert position.
