Switching controllers are often used as preliminary controllers (SR) for push-pull DC voltage transformers (GW) or other DC voltage transformers. The output-side capacitance (CA) of such a preliminary controller is usually selected to be large for reasons of stability. In the case of the invention, this output-side capacitance (CA) is reduced. In addition, for certain operating cases, for example the start-up phase of a push-pull DC voltage transformer connected downstream, the control gain of the switching controller (SR) is reduced. It is ensured by means of this measure that the system can react quickly to load changes without unstable behaviour occurring. <IMAGE>
