PURPOSE:To provide the liquid crystal display device which has a wide visual angle range. CONSTITUTION:A liquid crystal element 1 has a nematic liquid crystal layer 12 inserted and held between couple of glass substrate 2 and 3 and is previously processed by orientation. The liquid crystal element 1 is inserted and held between a couple of upper and lower phase difference plates 14 and 16, which have extending axes. Further, the phase difference plates 14 and 16 are inserted and held between upper and lower polarizing plates 15 and 17. Further, the extending axis of the upper phase plate 16 is aligned with the axis of light absorption of the upper polarizing plate 17 and the extending axis of the lower phase plate 14 is aligned with the axis of light absorption of the lower polarizing plate 15. |
