PURPOSE: To prepare and utilize a quite simple device with reliability, by selecting the edge plane angle so that laser output is totally reflected at a delivering terminal plane and discharged from the side surface of an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION: An angleβis selected so that almost all output light transferred by an optical fiber 32 is totally reflected at an inclined end plane 40 of a transferring end 36 and discharged from a side of the fiber. At first, an angleα(a necessary angle to obtain a total inner reflection) of light R against a normal plane 42 is calculated by the following formula;α(a total inner reflection)=Sin<-1> (n2 /n1 ). Herein n1 is a reflective index of a fiber core and n2 is a refractive index of surrounding media of the fiber. Then, a maximal transferring angleθof light group within the fiber is determined by the following formula; Cosθ=n clad/n core. Then, an angleβis obtained fromβ=90-α-θfor equalizing the light transferred at the maximal transferring angle deg.C against an axis of the fiber with the total inner reflection angleαin the case that all of the light impinge on the end plane.
