A sleeve actuator for a window or a door that is arranged in a casement frame. The actuator is used to actuate a bolt rod fitting with a handle that is supported so as to be rotatable on the casement frame and which rotates a pinion that meshes with a rack. The rack is coupled to bolt rods. The pinion can be locked in specific positions of the bolt rod fitting by spring-loaded catches that engage in the tooth spaces of the pinion, The remaining tooth spaces of the pinion incorporate a thrust stop for the spring-loaded catch that extends as far as the outer periphery of the pinion or almost as far as the outer periphery of the pinion.
