PURPOSE:To obtain a visual sensor device capable of executing system processing at a high speed and preventing the generation of misrecognition in the existence of a work by executing judgement relating to the existence of a work in a target visual field prior to the execution of binarizing processing, and when there is no work, automatically skipping the binarizing processing. CONSTITUTION:A density histogram for a read picture is prepared (S1), a difference D between maximum density and minimum density is found out based upon the density histogram (S4), the density difference is compared with a previously set threshold (S5), and when the density difference is larger than the threshold, binarizing processing is executed (S6). When the density difference is smaller, a picture storing circuit is cleared (S7). On the other hand, the density histogram of the read picture is prepared, an intermediate density value between the maximum density and the minimum density and the frequency of the intermediate density value are found out based upon the density histogram, the frequency is compared with a previously set threshold, and when the frequency is smaller than the threshold, binarizing processing is executed. When the frequency is larger, the picture storing circuit is cleared. |
