A bulky ring (12) serves as a weight for balancing out the force of inertia. The ring (12) is mounted on the eccentric shaft (1) so as to be freely rotatable to an unlimited extent. This means that the mass moment of inertia, relating to rotation of the ring, of the stamping press does not have any effect when the stamping press is started or stopped. For example, when the eccentric shaft (1) is stopped abruptly, the ring (12) continues to rotate on it and only comes to a standstill after a considerable period. <IMAGE>
