发明名称 PRODUCTION OF POLYARYLENE SULFIDE
摘要 PURPOSE:To produce the subject polymer excellent in heat stability during melting, remarkably excellent in impact resistance and having a high molecular weight by applying a thermal oxidation treatment to a granular polyarylene sulfide having a specified weight-average molecular weight and a specified average particle size. CONSTITUTION:A granular polyarylene sulfide (hereinafter abbreviated granular PAS) having >=30000 weight-average molecular weight and <=50mum average particle diameter is treated in an oxygen-containing gas atmosphere of 10 to 25vol.% oxygen concentration at 170 to 260 deg.C for 1 to 96hr preferably in a fluidized bed type thermal oxidation treatment apparatus with a stirrer so as to be subjected to thermal oxidation treatment. In addition, the granular PAS is synthesized recommendably by polymerizing an alkaline metal sulfide with a dihalogenated aromatic compound at 195 to 240 deg.C in the first stage and at 240 to 270 deg.C in the final stage for 1 to 10hr according to a multi-stage reaction temperature profile and further cooling the gas phase part of the reaction tank, at the laterest, from the middle of temperature raise after completion of the first stage reaction.
