The device for moistening a cultivation medium for plants, flowers or similar, comprises a plate (1) intended to support the cultivation medium above a reserve (R) of watering liquid, and means of transferring the watering liquid from the reserve towards the cultivation medium. The means of transfer comprise a cartridge (6) fixed to the plate (1) and constituted by a sponge (7) which has undergone, when dry, sufficiently great compression to ensure that the watering liquid rises as far as the upper end of the sponge placed vertically, with a flow which is sufficient to moisten the cultivation medium, and by a tube (9) with an axis which is essentially at right angles to the plate (1) to which it is fixed, the sponge (7) being engaged in a clamped manner when dry in the tube (9) and projecting beyond at least the upper part of the tube to pass through a hole (8) in the plate and be in contact with the cultivation medium (M). <IMAGE>
