The invention relates to a device for raising plate-like objects. It comprises a housing which is suspended from a lifting facility, at least one air-feed duct which opens out on the underside thereof, at least one air-discharge duct which opens out at a certain distance from the air- feed duct, and a return duct which connects the air- discharge duct to the air-feed duct, in which return duct a pump unit is placed in order to bring about a pressure difference between the air-feed duct opening and the air- discharge duct opening. The high-speed air flow which is brought about by the pressure difference leads to a low static pressure on the underside of the housing, with the result that a plate-like object positioned beneath it is raised.
