PURPOSE: To provide a benzylimidazolyl deriv. as a microbicide to protect an industrial material from deterioration or decay due to microorganism. CONSTITUTION: A compd. expressed by the formula, its acid-addition salt and metallic salt complex are used for microorganisms and/or habitat of microorganisms to inhibit microorganisms. The industrial material to be protected is, for example, an adhesive, paste, paper, cardboard, fabric, leather, wood, coating material, plastics material, cooling lubricant, etc. In the formula, R<1> is a halogenoalkyl, (substd.)aryl, (substd.)aralkyl, (halogeno)alkenyl, (substd.) aralkenyl, alkynyl, (substd.)aralkynyl, alkylcarbonyl, (substd.)arylcarbonyl, alkylaminocarbonyl or trimethylsilylalkyl, R<2> is H or an alkyl, R<3> is a halogen, (halogen)alkyl, alkoxy, NO2 or CN, (m) is 0 to 3, or R<1> is a 1 to 5C or 10 to 20C alkyl, R<2> is H, or R<1> is a 1 to 20C alkyl and R<2> is a 1 to 6C alkyl. |
