PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal recording material having a superior recording image shelf stability and an enough light resistance to prevent the yellowing of a background for a very long term even under exposure to light, such as sunlight. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material provided with a thermal recording layer formed by incorporating a colorless or light-colored basic dye and a color developer producing a color in contact with the dye on one surface of a substrate, a back coat layer formed by incorporating microcapsules including an ultraviolet light absorber and having substantially no color forming power is provided on a rear surface of the substrate.
