A clamping handle for mounting an instrument for treating the root canal of a tooth has a handle body (1) with a screw thread (2) which can be screw-connected to a screwing member (4). The handle body (1) and the screwing member (4) are provided with an axial bore (6, 7) for reception of the shaft (8) of the instrument. A clamping sleeve (12) which loosely surrounds the shaft (8) is arranged between the handle body (1) and the screwing member (4). The clamping sleeve (12) has a continuous longitudinal slot (13) and conical end sections (20, 21) which engage into complementary recesses (22, 23) on the mutually facing ends of the axial bores (6, 7) in the handle body (1) and in the screwing member (4), respectively. <IMAGE>
