Add-on device for suppressing advertising spots in television sets and video recordings

Technical object and aim: Television spots interfere both with the entertainment value and the quality of video recordings. The novel device avoids advertising spots and provides for a more intelligent utilisation of the medium since it only switches on, for example the television set, in the case of information-containing transmissions. Solution: A small inexpensive device automatically controls television set and video recorder. The type of control can be selected by the user: - count to the next channel free of spots and jump back as soon as the advertising spot is finished - switch-over in the case of scenes with sexual content (child-proofing) - switching on and over as soon as any station brings, for example, economic reports - recording films without programming - muting during advertising spots - spot-free video recordings. Control is effected via the remote control receivers and is therefore universally applicable. The signals (for example beginning of spot on RTL) are broadcast (for example shortwave) by members of a central office. The devices have suitable receivers and decoding processors. The device is applicable all over the world in all households with remote controllable television sets or video recorders.
