PURPOSE:To produce a nitrile from an alkane under relatively low-temperature conditions in high yield. CONSTITUTION:An alkane is subjected to vapor phase catalytic oxidation reaction with ammonia in the presence of a solid catalyst obtained by adding either one or more oxides of manganese, chromium, gallium, germanium, yttrium and lead to the complex oxide of the following formula: MoaVbTecXxOn [X are one or more elements selected from Tb, Ta, W, Ti, Al, Zr, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ru, Co, Rh, Ni, Pd, Pt, Sb, Bi, B, In and Ce and when a is 1, b is 0.01-1.0, c is 0.01-1.0 and x is 0.01-1.0; and n is determined by oxidation state of other elements]. |
