NEW OLIGOSACCHARIDE COMPRISING GLUCURONIC ACID, ITS PRODUCTION AND UTILIZATION

PURPOSE:To obtain a new compound, capable of enhancing the mineral absorbability by the oral administration and useful for preventing or treating osteoporosis or other osteopathies and maintaining and controlling the human or animal health. CONSTITUTION:This oligosaccharide comprises glucuronic acid and is expressed by the formula (Gal)m-GlcUA [Ga1 is galactose; GlcUA is glucuronic acid; (n) is an integer of 1-3]. Furthermore, a medicine, a food and a drink comprise the oligosaccharide and have enhanced mineral absorbability. The oligosaccharide can be produced by reacting lactic acid with glucuronic acid and a beta-galactosidase or a beta-glucosidase and carrying out the galactose transfer reaction.
