The invention relates to the stopping of containers with necks, with a cap, comprising a threaded stopper (2) extended at its bottom by a tamper-evident band (3) internally having an annular protrusion (13) and which is connected to the stopper by a joining zone (4) of low mechanical strength. According to the invention, the upper face (13a) of the said internal protrusion is substantially normal to the axis of the cap and, whilst the said upper face is connected by a pronounced angle to a start face (12), the lower face (13b) of the protrusion is connected to a pre-centring slope (15). The cap is withdrawn by the application of torque causing the internal protrusion to pivot towards the exterior. The cap, made of plastic material, can be used on bottles of water. <IMAGE>
