PURPOSE: To maximize the transferring efficiency of a message in a computer network. CONSTITUTION: A message is compressed and transferred through a link between computers by a segmented form, and the size of the segment of the message has length suitable to the transferring characteristic of the link. The message received or transmitted before by the computer is compressed and stored by the segmented form. At the time of transferring or re-transferring this message, the segment size of the stored form is compared with the segment size optimal to the link through which the message is transferred. When those sizes have almost the same length, the stored, segmented, and compressed message is retrieved for being directly transferred without being re-segmented or re- compressed.
