PURPOSE:To make the thickness of an optical pickup thinner, to make an optical information device using the optical pickup small in size and to improve the reliability. CONSTITUTION:A reflection mirror 6 is mounted on the bottom part of the housing 50 of a pickup PU and a semiconductor laser 1, an integrated photodetector 2 and an objective lens 3 are mounted on the inside surface of a cap 300 stopping up the upper surface of the housing 50. A transmitted light from the semiconductor laser 1 is reflected by the integrated photodetector 2, further reflected by the reflection mirror 6, transmitted through the objective lens 3 and projected on an optical disk 4. The signal light reflected from the optical disk 4 is made incident on the integrated photodetector 2 through the objective lens 3 and the reflection mirror 6 and introduced into a planar optical waveguide 18 by means of an entrance diffraction grating 15 forming an incident coupler. The waveguided light is made incident on a P layer 13 as a light receiving part by an exit diffraction grating 17 and converted to an electric signal. |
