PURPOSE: To consider the movement of image contents at the time of converting image signals to converted image signals by a double field frequency, to reduce the noise of the image signals and to reduce line flickers. CONSTITUTION: This image signal conversion circuit for converting source image signals for indicating the column of the frames for which the respective frames are composed of two interlaced scanning fields to the converted image signals provided with the double field frequency to the source image signals is provided with memory circuits 1 and 2 for doubling the field frequency, a movement compensation circuit 5 is provided in the post stage and the output signals are supplied to a noise reduction circuit 6. A line flicker reduction circuit 7 for receiving the output signals of the noise reduction circuit 6 and the movement compensation circuit 5 is provided and the converted image signals are obtained from the output signals of the noise reduction circuit 6 or the flicker reduction circuit 7 or the movement compensation circuit 5 corresponding to the position to the time of a field to generate the converted image signals.
