The seat belt release comprises an electrically operated actuator which operates the seat belt locking mechanism to release the seat belt, and an electric circuit connected to each electric actuator. A switch controls electric supply to the actuators. - Each actuator uses an electromagnet (12) to provide the motive power to release the lock, and a normally open push-button is used as the switching device. An alternative switch is provided by a timed relay (14) triggered (15) by the interruption of the principal electric supply of the vehicle.
