The process comprises the addition of triethyl phosphate and phosphorus oxychloride to dry 9-( beta -D-arabinofuranosyl)adenine, hydrolysis of the reaction mixture and removal of the excess hydrogen chloride by addition of propylene oxide. Application to the medical field, in particular to the production of antiviral agents.
