PURPOSE:To prevent copy speed from being decelerated by performing special original discrimination processing corresponding to whether the same image area as the shape size of image data in a special original is existent inside an original image or not. CONSTITUTION:The original image read out by a scanner unit 101 is A/D converted then sent to an image processing unit 102 and stored in a page memory 102a. A special original discrimination unit 105 inputs image data from the storage of the unit 102 and discriminates the suspicion of the special original corresponding to the shape size. When there is any suspicion, the inside of the image area is compared and collated with the spectrum distribution of the special original and discrimination is further performed corresponding to the degree of coincidence. When they are different in the least, the suspicion is canceled. When they are completely coincident, copy is stopped by judging the special original. Thus, high-speed discrimination is enabled while following the reading speed of the unit 101. Therefore, high-speed discrimination processing is enabled at the time of a normal original, and copy speed equal to a normal copy machine can be provided while performing the discrimination processing of the special original. |
