Classifying appts. for cleaning granulate from processes e.g. PET granulates

Appts. for cleaning granules of various particle sizes and has a housing (5) with a top inlet (11) for the granule batch (1) and a bottom outlet (12) for the cleaned granulate (18), entry (13) and exit (7) openings for a cleaning gas which flows in counter-current to the granules falling through the appts. and a disperser disc (6) below the inlet (11). The novelty is that a guide device (19) for the entering batch (1), and a retainer device (2) for the coarser particles are provided in the inlet (11) region. Also claimed is a granulate cleaning process using the above appts. in which the batch (1) is subjected in the inlet region, to a pre-cleaning operation involving retention of the coarser particles by the retaining device (2) and guidance of the smaller particles past the retaining device.
