In one aspect the invention relates to the preparation of deuterated sevoflurane and its use as an inhalation anesthetic. In a further aspect the invention relates to the minimization of degradation of sevoflurane to F2-C=C(CF3)OCH2F (compound) in carbon dioxide scrubbers by means of cooling the scrubbers.
