FILTER DRYER BODY

A filter body (36) comprised of molecular sieve material and polyphenylene sulfide which has a density of from about 10 to about 25 grams per cubic inch, a compressive strength of at least about 500 pounds per square inch, a pressure drop of from about 5 to 20 inches, a water pickup of at least about 11 weight percent, and an initial 24 hour pickup of at last about 6 weight percent. The composition of the filter body (36) may be made by introducing the polyphenylene sulfide and molecular sieve material to a mixer (10), charging a thermoplastic material (20) into the mixer, discharging the mixture (22), charging the mixture into a press (26), and compacting the mixture into a die (36) by hydraulic pressure.
