PURPOSE:To fully prevent the corrosion of a cathode of a cathode container to lengthen the life of a battery by forming petitions which partition up and down into plural layers a conductive material accommodation space for a cathode formed between a solid electrolyte tube and a cathode container with a corrosion resistant material. CONSTITUTION:The accommodation space of a conductive material 8 for a cathode formed between a cathode container 2 and a solid electrolyte tube 4 is partitioned up and down into plural layers with partitions 10. In discharge, sodium enters the conductive material 8 accommodation space in a form of sodium ion, and reacts with sulfur to produce sodium trisulfide. Since the sodium trisusfide is heavy, it falls down and is stored in the lower part of each conductive material 8 accommodation space, that is, in the lower part of the space having triangle cross section formed by the solid electrolyte tube 4 and the partition 10. Sodium trisulfide which is a corrosive product is separated from the cathode container 2 for the most time of discharge. |
