<p>PURPOSE: To provide means that can be applied to a turbocharger to reduce noise emitted from the turbocharger by adapting the means to have a plurality of deflector assemblies having a series of deflector fins and specifying various space conditions. CONSTITUTION: A turbocharger 10 includes an intake housing 76 in opposition to an exhaust housing 74, and the intake housing 76 comprises an outer wall 108 that forms an intake opening 86 and an inner wall 116 that forms an inlet opening 82. Further, an annular chamber 126 is defined between the outer walls 108 and the inner wall 116. On the other hand, means 140 is provided for reducing noise emitted from the turbocharger 70. The means 140 includes a plurality of deflector assemblies 144 having a series of deflector fins 154 being spaced apart a preestablished distance. Further, the predetermined space is designed according to the following expression: space=N×10440000/S×B, in which N is the number of the spaces; S is a rotation frequency of the turbocharger 70 and B is the number of blades 100.</p> |
