PURPOSE:To provide a power assist bicycle which is mainly dependent on human power, however can supplement the lack of human power, and can surely make the bicycle run particularly at the time of starting with a heavy cargo loaded, and of starting on a up-hill road. CONSTITUTION:The torque of a pedal 11, (leg power) is detected by a pedal torque sensor 20, and the bicycle speed is detected by a speed sensor 21. A controller 16 allows a motor to be driven when the pedal 11 is stepped in normal rotation, and when the bicycle speed is slower than a specified one though the torque of the pedal 11 is equal to or more than a definite value. The driving force of the motor is transmitted to a rear wheel 10b as an assist power to human power. |
