PURPOSE: To give a desired optimum value by providing a means which optimizes the performance of an optical communication system from the viewpoint of the change of various operation environments and especially using an incorporated micro controller to optimize the performance of an optical sub-system. CONSTITUTION: In an optical sub-system 12, values of plural operation parameters included in this sub-system are changed as functions of changes in environments where the optical sub-system is placed, and a microprocessor 14 is provided which is mounted in the optical sub-system and includes a memory which is so programmed that optimum values of operation parameters to a prescribed set of environmental conditions are stored. In response to plural operation parameters, the microprocessor 14 compares plural operation parameters with optimum values stored in the memory and presents optimum values of operation parameters to the sub-system. |
