PURPOSE:To improve power factor with a simple circuit and to improve reliability inexpensively by reducing the power loss in a resistor. CONSTITUTION:The voltage of an AC power supply 1 is rectified by a rectifier circuit 2, rectified output current is allowed to flow to a smoothing capacitor 5 via a resistor 4 and a diode 14 for charging the smoothing capacitor 5, the peak of charge current flowing to the smoothing capacitor 5 is suppressed by the resistor 4, the charge current is discharged by bypassing the resistor 4 through a diode 13, and the loss in the resistor 4 is generated only during charging, thus improving power factor. |
